Understanding CSS and why do we use CSS ?

CSS stands for Cascading style sheet. CSS is a style language that defines layout of HTML ducuments. It controls the presentation of elements within the HyperText Markup Langauge (HTML) documents. Presentation is specified by "styles" that you can assign "inline" or by "rules" within <style> </style> tags in the HTML document's head section, or as a separate style sheets.
The benefit of CSS is it allows you to format structured content and provides web deveolpers with sophisticated layout opportunities and to maintain website a lot easier. CSS gives you a lot of flexibility and consistency by having your style separated from the content.

You can do a lot of different great things in creating the look and feel that you are looking for. Example, you can control and define fonts, colors, margins, lines, height, width, background color, advance positions and many other things. CSS gives more controls over the appearance of a webpage. The main advantage of CSS  is that the styling can be kept entirely separate from the content. An it is possible to store all the presentational styles for many numer of pages website in a single CSS file. The positive impact on using CSS is that editing one style sheet is obviously more efficient than editing an end numbers of  HTML files.
